SANIBEL REENTRY PROCEDURES

 

The Sanibel causeway is open for vehicular traffic. Inbound traffic is allowed 6:00am – 9:00pm. There are two Inbound Lanes:

 

·     Right Lane – Emergency Vehicles & Emergency Government Contractors Only.

·     Left Lane – Sanibel residents, businesses, property owners and private contractors.

 

A VALID 2021 OR 2022 SANIBEL RE-ENTRY PASS MUST BE PROMINENTLY DISPLAYED OR A FLORIDA DRIVER’S LICENSE WITH A SANIBEL ADDRESS READILY AVAILABLE WHEN APPROACHING THE CHECKPOINT.

 

PERSONS WITH A VALID REENTRY PASS MAY ACCESS THE ISLAND ON OCTOBER 31, AND NOVEMBER 1, 2022. 

 

Any vehicle may leave between 6:00am – 9:00pm. There is one Outbound Lane from Sanibel and the causeway; there are two Outbound Lanes on McGregor Boulevard.

 

A curfew is in effect on Sanibel from 9:00pm – 6:00am. No vehicle, bicycle, or pedestrian movement is permitted, except for essential response personnel. The curfew will be strictly enforced.

DEBRIS REMOVAL

Debris hauling on Sanibel is ongoing. Please click here for additional information. Residents can request removal of debris from private property, including vehicles, vessels, motorcycles, trailers, and ATVs. To make a request, visit IanDebrisCleanup.com.

 

SANITARY SEWER

The city sewer system can receive limited toilet flush; however, other domestic water use should be minimized; this would include showering and use of dishwashers. Please do not do laundry until full sanitary service is restored. When performing your initial home cleaning, please limit water use so sediment does not enter the wastewater system. Homeowners are reminded to have their plumbing inspected for any leaks and broken lines prior to any use.

 

FEMA 50% RULE AND SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE/IMPROVEMENT

NEED A TARP?

The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Operation Blue Roof mission has reached Sanibel. The Operation Blue Roof program is a NO COST – FREE service for homeowners, providing a temporary solution that protects their property and allows them to remain in their home as they continue to recover. The last day residents can apply for Operation Blue Roof has been extended through November 1st. Sign-up by calling 888-766-3258 or visit Blueroof.us.

 

LEE TRAN SHUTTLE SERVICE

LeeTran is operating two shuttle bus routes to help residents move through the islands. The hours of operation are 8:00am – 6:00pm, Monday – Friday, and the service is free. Please click here for the Sanibel map, and here to see the Captiva stops.

 

CURFEW

·     Call Center: Monday – Saturday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (closed Sunday)

·     Information Desk and Reentry Passes – Monday – Saturday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (closed for lunch from 12pm-1pm daily) (closed Sunday)

·     Emergency: Call 911

 

MAIL PICKUP

Sanibel mail may be picked up at the Jetport Loop Mail Station (14080 Jetport Loop, Fort Myers, FL) The hours are Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 4:00pm, and Saturday, 9:00am – 12:00pm.
