As Sanibel continues to recover from Hurricane Ian, the Sanibel Police Department is committed to keeping the community safe and secure. To support that effort, a weekly police blotter will be issued on Tuesdays, to include real time information about law enforcement response to criminal activity.
Arrests Report
November 13, 2022: Extraditable Warrant and Driving on Suspended License. Suspect was booked into the Lee County Jail and is awaiting extradition. View the booking report: https://www.sheriffleefl.org/booking/?id=959784
November 13, 2022: Active Arrest Warrant and Violation of Probation. Suspect was booked into the Lee County Jail for processing. View the booking report:
November 15, 2022: Vehicle Crash, DUI, Refusal to Submit for Lawful Breath Test. Suspect was booked into the Lee County Jail. View the booking report:

  • Several additional arrest warrant requests are currently in progress as a result of post-hurricane investigations.
Other Enforcement Actions
On November 14, 2022, a complainant reported two males on bicycles going door to door soliciting yard cleanup services. Upon arrival, officers made contact with both males who were actively soliciting in the area of Cotten Court / Bunting Lane. Both males were educated on the City Ordinance violation and given verbal warnings for the offense.

  • 1 misdemeanor summons request is in process
  • 1 new search warrant is in process
  • 29 illegitimate / counterfeit hurricane passes have been seized at checkpoints this week
In cooperation with the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation (DBPR), the Sanibel Police Department is enforcing the prohibition on unlicensed activity. On November 14, 2022, DBPR officials distributed informational packets at the checkpoint and checked approximately 15 job sites. 22 informational door hangers were placed and 2 Notices of Non Compliance were issued.

Important Reminders
Sanibel Residential Reentry Hurricane Passes are NOT transferrable.
Sanibel Commercial Reentry Passes are NOT transferrable. Unauthorized use of passes by individuals other than the contractor to whom a pass was issued will result in immediate revocation of the commercial entry pass. Contractors from whom passes have been revoked will be ineligible to receive new passes.
Multiple search warrants have been issued and executed as part of post-hurricane investigations, resulting in the discovery of items that may be missing property. Residents, property owners, and business owners are encouraged to review photos published by Sanibel Police here.
Residents who have reported missing jewelry are encouraged to submit detailed information and descriptions to Sanibel Police investigators.
