FEMA’s 50% RULE AND
THE NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE PROGRAM
Jeffery Parker, NFIP Insurance Specialist, National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) will be in attendance to present information concerning the 50% Regulation and the NFIP.
The 50% Rule is a regulation of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) that prohibits improvements to a structure exceeding 50% of its market value unless the entire structure is brought into full compliance with current flood regulations. This may include elevating the structure, using flood resistant materials, and proper flood venting.
The question-and-answer session will follow the City of Sanibel Hurricane Ian Facebook Live update which begins at 5 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2022.
